The club have announced the sad news that former Rangers player and captain Fernando Ricksen has died at age 43, after a six-year battle with motor neurone disease.
Ricksen, a former Dutch internantional, had fought bravely against the progressive condition since 2013.
During six years at Rangers Ricksen became a firm favourite with the fans, after being signed from AZ Alkmaar by Dick Advocaat in 2000.
His honours during his time at Ibrox included the domestic cup double in 2002, the treble in 2003 and a brace of trophies in 2005.
Tributes from former team mates and opponents have flooded in, acknowledging the high regard in which Ricksen was held by friend and foe alike.
His memory will live long in the hearts of fans who were fortunate enough to have seen him play.
All at Cardiff True Blues RSC would like to extend their sincere condolences to Fernando's family at this saddest of times.
